Sebastian
Moffatt in CEO and senior researcher at The
CONSENSUS Institute. In this capacity he
oversees all project work and regularly
represents the institute at workshops and
conferences. In addition to his work at
CONSENSUS, Mr. Moffatt is a founding partner
of two private firms: The Sheltair Group, an
integrated planning, design and engineering
firm location in Vancouver; and Propolis
information Technologies Inc., a software
development firm that develops tools for
urban planning. |

Mr. Moffatt
has been working as building scientist and
environmental planner since 1980. Over the
past six years has worked on sustainable
infrastructure plans for many cities in
North America and Asia. He authored the
popular report for the Federation of
Canadian Municipalities: Closing the Loop: A
Guide to Green Infrastructure for Canadian
Municipalities. Sebastian was the national
team leading for citiesPLUS - a
multi-partner project that created a
100-year sustainable region plan for Greater
Vancouver. Mr. Moffatt has been extensively
involved in preparing Canada's policy on
green house gas emission reductions in the
building sector, and for promoting
community-based energy systems. He
represented Canada on the International Energy Agency Annex 31: Energy-Related
Environment Impacts of Buildings.
He has
developed adaptive management frameworks for
companies, communities and developers, to
help align plans and policies with the
principles of sustainability. He has been
extensively involved as a lead consultant to
such organizations as the Greater Vancouver
Regional District, the Resort Municipality
of Whistler, the Fraser Valley Regional
District, and the BC Buildings
Corporation. |

Mr. Moffatt
has a Bachelor of Environmental Studies from
University of Waterloo and a Masters of
Science from University of British Columbia.
He is currently completing a doctoral thesis
in Architecture at University of Karlsruhe.
